∞FRANÇOIS MORELLET∞ CENTENARIO IN ITALIA 1926–2026
π WEEPING NEONLY BLEU N°1 (2001)
UNIVERSITÀ LUIGI BOCCONI | MILANO
CURATED BY ETTORE BUGANZA
As part of the project ∞François Morellet∞ Centenary in Italy 1926–2026, Bocconi University is taking part in the celebrations dedicated to the French artist through the Bocconi Art Gallery, a project which, since 2009, has been promoting dialogue between contemporary art, research and education on campus.
On display in the exhibition spaces on Via Röntgen is π weeping neonly bleu n°1 (2001), an installation comprising 30 neon tubes arranged according to the random distribution of the number π and connected by suspended wires that evoke the supple branches of a weeping willow. The work exemplifies Morellet’s innovative approach, blending mathematical rigour, chance and visual experimentation, offering the public an opportunity to explore the work of one of the leading figures in international contemporary art.
Participation in the project dedicated to the centenary confirms the Bocconi Art Gallery’s commitment to fostering encounters between different disciplinary languages and to making contemporary art an integral part of university life. Through engagement with one of the most influential figures in abstract and conceptual art of the late 20th century, the University renews its focus on cultural initiatives capable of stimulating new forms of knowledge, interpretation and participation.
